Proposal

XPRES!
Problem
The communities aren’t as strong as they used to be. More people are victims and suspects of hate crimes and kids have too much time on their hands which can lead to more violence. There are many talented people in our community and we may walk past a millionaire every day. Many people aren’t given the opportunity to broadcast their talent whether it’s on stage or not. We need a stronger relationship between University of Memphis and our community.
Solution
There should be frequent activities for young kids, teenagers, and even adults to enjoy and keep their idle mind astray. The University of Memphis could hold Jammin’ Sessions or Open Mic where people who play an instrument, sing, rap, recite, etc. can come together and enjoy each other’s work in a peaceful manner. We should hold more opportunities for the community to come out and enjoy good music and food.
Benefits
When an idle mind is stopped and people are participating in functions within their community, a lot of things change. People start changing the way they think and the way they look at people once they have a better understanding of who that person is.
      Environmental
This project will bring our community together. Build a stronger relationship between the people in the community and the University of Memphis students. It reduces violence, dead bodies being found on the street. The kids that have nothing to do after school could get involved in an Open Mic session at the University of Memphis, or when there isn’t an event going on they’ll go home and work on something for the next event.

     Social
When people are doing something they enjoy, they start getting dedicated. They get dedicated to what they are working on and become willing to meet new people to get a kick-off on what they want to happen. They start building relationships with one another and teaming up, working together to complete something. Not only are these people getting along now but they are finding something in common which could be a recipe for a lifelong relationship.

    Financial
The best part about this is at the beginning there isn’t much money that has to be in this. As it gets bigger, more people start coming, and more people to start buying tickets to be in the show we can facilitate something more organized. We can present more opportunities for people with talent such as bringing famous producers in, or maybe a famous artist in general to show the people of the Memphis community a thing or two. The more people coming, the more tickets that being sold, is the bigger this event could get and the tighten the bond between University of Memphis students and their community.

Conclusion
Many people have talents we know nothing about, and our community is too big to not get along with one another. There is too much crime in the city of Memphis, and if we can’t get to the city right now, we can always start a piece at a time. Getting people together and doing things they enjoy.

Letter to the National Public

Dear Editor,
I’ve always wanted to join a club on campus, but the school didn’t have much I was interested in. I figured taking out the time to start one wouldn’t be so bad and found some great people to create XPRES (Xhibiting Passion Represents Everyone’s Skillz) with. The club is about showing your talents and broadcasting some form of a talent show all year long. Even though this is a fun event for everyone to get involved with, I’m afraid that people will miss the seriousness of this club.
My peers and I have been vigorously working on proposals for this club, finding charity groups, working in the community, and giving kids something to do other than having an “idle mind.” It can prevent them from unnecessary violence and trouble because they’ll be doing something they enjoy.  There are many things this club can contribute to in changing our community and bringing people together through music, writing, dancing, acting and much more. We have a community full of talented people and getting people involved outside of the University of Memphis is a long term goal that we are determined to meet.
This club isn’t about promoting yourself through your talent or receiving individual proceeds for your success. We want to be able to give back to our community and help those who are in need. We can create a foundation for St. Jude because there are so many sick children there with parents that doubt that’ll see another day. Being able to give to St. Jude and visit so we could give them a show can change that child for the rest of their life. Those proceeds that we give can be what the doctors need to find that cure for the cancer that child is suffering with. The joy of being able to contribute to something as joyous as that is lifetime of happiness for us and that family.
We want to bring people together again, when things were peaceful and everyone can gather to see a few teenagers singing in groups, listening to the heart-throbbing poetry, and understanding the story the dancer tells in his/her moves. This will be a fun group, full of energy and excitement. But we must always remember that it’s not about us. It’s about the people around us, our community.
Sincerely,
dork

me&my random self :P

So I'm officially a college student and excited about being in school! Everyone harassed me that, "College is so hard. You have to be on your game at all times and the minute you fall off the wagon, you'll never be able to get back on." At least not where you started.
First day in class, I was excited and the professors were straight to the point. They always made room for any questions I may have and helped me understand what I couldn't understand <--hehe :D. Everything was pretty easy, went to class, turned in my work, participated in class, turned in my work, went to class, did some homework, participated in class, turned in my work. Sounds simple enough, huh? That was until I had my first exam.
Can we say stressed!? [>_<] I had to go to work, do homework for one class, go home to clean. Not to mention I was starting my own Student Organization on Campus so I was up in the wee hours of the night creating an outline for the group. Speaking of the Organization the name is XPRES >Xhibiting Passion Represents Everyone's Skillz< which is for all Photographers, Film Makers, Artists, Dancers, Poets, Writers, Journalists, Singers, Rappers, (<---why did I want to spell that 'wappers'? o_O) Musicians, and Comedians. Me and the other set-up team are working really hard to figure out new activities for us to do next semester and we are vigorously trying to amp up the membership of our club. We plan for it to be the 'hottest thing on campus' by 2013. We want each individual to XPRES their 'Skillz' to everyone on campus. So if you have a talent you want to XPRES, find me on campus so we can talk! :D
Back to my first exam, :( I couldn't seem to make time to study. As much as I would tell myself when I wake up, "You're going to read that book today, and you're going to create an outline. No matter how badly you want to go see Lion King 3D that's only going to be in theaters for two weeks." So I sighed and started my daily tasks, but as soon as I sat down and opened my book, my mom came rushing in saying, "Let's go, we're going to go see the Lion King." & she's a die-heart fan !! I couldn't just say NO! :D
Got to school Monday, and did some serious cramming with a study group that did the same mistake I did. We prayed he wouldn't pick the question that we couldn't understand, only to sit down and get a drum roll. It seemed my entire life was speeding in front of me because it took him entirely too long to pick the question, HE USED AN ENTIRE 15 SECONDS! I mean it may have been short for you but to have to sit there and have my heart beating that fast for 15 seconds is like suicidal! I could've died with all that suspense. & guess what question he chose. Yep, you guessed correctly, the one I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND! o_O I believe I'm the only person in the class that screamed while everyone moaned and groaned. I was highly upset, but I had to believe that I could finish this test the best I could.
With all that being said, everyone told me that college was tough and it was easy to flunk out. But no one told me you had to PRIORITIZE! So thank you very much for the advice. :P

BTW (which is by the way) my name is d0rk. >daring optimistic rare kidd;)
